Dental Whitening is the process wherein the color of the teeth is lightened or whitened.

There are numerous reasons for which the teeth can get discolored. The main reasons are stains of tea, tobacco, coffee, antibiotics etc. These stains can be removed and teeth can be whitened by dental whitening. People with sensitive teeth prohibit from dental whitening. People with sensitive teeth are supposed to have more problems if they use dental whitening solutions.

A dental whitening mechanism works by the use of a particular bleach or hydrogen peroxide gel. The material is put on to the surface of each discolored tooth and then left on for a fixed amount of time. Dissimilar to their early predecessors, modern dental whitening systems are quite easy to use.

Though its sounds that dental whitening is quite an easy process for the patient. But it is a bit difficult in real. Sometime the patients have to mold a plastic tray and then sleep with the tray in their mouth for the night. The disadvantage is terrible tasting goo going down through your gullet while you are sleeping; though, the advantage is this that you are not able to grind your teeth all night.

Materials like Crest White Strips have decimated the need for the large whitening trays and bleach that remained on all night. Now these strips can be applied to the teeth twice a day and can be remove after fifteen to thirty minutes.

Some of the newer dental whitening products are applied only at the night. The reason is that after brushing their teeth at night, most of the people don’t have anything till they wake up in the morning. Thus it leaves the whitening gel on the surface of the tooth for a long time.

Teeth whitening kits are also produced in generic versions and they are just as effective as their brand counterparts. And that’s a fact. If you’re in doubt about the quality of the dental whitening kit to be the same as its branded counterpart then you can look at the ingredients list. The active ingredients are the same for both the brands and you may in fact save a few dollars.

If you don’t suffer from any kind of teeth or gums problem then a home dental whitening system is a great product for you. If you have open spots on tooth surfaces from tooth decay of you’re allergic to particular types of bleaching gels then it could make your condition worse, can cause pain and can put you at serious health risk.
